A1 Recap & Canadian Rider Update
It’s A1 week—always the most exciting time in the moto world, and this year, we were fortunate to experience it live alongside all five Canadian riders. Let’s break down how each of them performed.
Bad news first: St. Cyr took a nasty spill on a triple that gave plenty of riders trouble. Thankfully, nothing’s broken, but he’s sore and bruised. He’s aiming to be back for San Diego—classic Canadian grit.

Blake Davies was solid all day, but narrowly missed the night show, finishing just three spots outside. The 16-year-old gained invaluable experience and looked comfortable on a challenging track. He’ll know exactly what to work on for Round 2.

Preston Masicangelo made his 250 West debut after a strong 2024 in Futures. He qualified 28th for the night show and finished a respectable 12th in his heat. Masicangelo is on track for a Main Event gate drop in 2025.

Noah Viney was impressive, qualifying P1 in 250C and going straight to the main with a solid P8 finish in his heat. He ended up 18th overall in the main—great start to the season. We’re excited to see him in the Canadian Nationals this summer with GDR Honda.

Cole Thompson, the veteran, had a solid night of racing. His heat race result—a P4 finish—was impressive, and a P10 overall in the main showed he still has what it takes to run with the front guys. Thompson’s performance at A1 was a great reminder that he belongs at this level.

Canadian Moto Scene Updates
In other Canadian moto news, things are still relatively quiet. We reached out to Triple Crown owner Justin Thompson for an update on the 2025 schedule. He confirmed Round 1 will be in Calgary, the East series remains unchanged, and the West portion is still on, debunking rumors that it would be dropped. They’re also finalizing new sponsorship deals to help support and grow the series.
