2027 Canadian Amateur Nationals
All Three 2027 Amateur Nationals Locked In: Dates and Locations Revealed
The 2027 Amateur Nationals schedule is out, and heading into the new season, a few changes look like steps in the right direction. From an early Western announcement to a familiar finish at TransCan, here’s what riders and families need to know.
WCAN: early, and in a new home
The biggest news is out west. The Western Canadian Amateur Nationals (WCAN) dates and location are being announced well ahead of last season, and that matters. In 2026, it wasn’t even clear the event would happen until Alberta Championship Motocross stepped in and pulled it off in Lethbridge in early July.
For 2027, WCAN moves to May, ahead of the start of the Canadian Motocross Nationals. It’s a smart spot on the calendar. Riders aren’t yet out east, and they aren’t deep into summer racing, which gives western riders and their families a clear target to build their spring around.
WCAN will also be held at the Revelstoke track for the first time. The facility is run by Chris Dodds, father of Liam Dodds, who takes great care of the property. The venue has already had a trial run. In 2026, ACM and Future West put together a mini-WCAN-style Alberta vs. British Columbia shootout there. We unfortunately couldn’t make it out, but we heard great things.
The event will be run by Future West, as it was for many years in Kamloops, bringing back an organization with a long history of putting on the championship.
We reached out to Ryan Lockhart and asked to hear his thoughts about WCAN returing to BC:
“Ever since we lost whispering pines in Kamloops FWM has been actively seek a new location that can facilitate an event like WCAN back to BC. The Revy rides club has done so much work over the last few years that doing WCAN in 2027 there only makes sense. Very central location, easy access and I will say one of the best tracks in western Canada will make the 2027 WCAN one of the best yet. We are excited to get this confirmed early so we can start working on making this an awesome time for everyone.”

ECAN: the dates that don’t move
Eastern Canadian Amateur Nationals (ECAN) dates haven’t changed much in years, and there’s an interesting reason why. Quebec has a construction holiday, when nearly everyone working in the trades gets two weeks off. The tradition dates back to the 1970s, and much of Quebec plans its year around those two weeks. That includes the Eastern Amateur Nationals.

TransCan: the same great finish
TransCan stays put as well, and that’s good news. The national schedule still ends the series on Sunday, with a week off beforehand so riders can head to Loretta Lynn’s. It’s the perfect end to the moto season before everyone heads back to their local series.
2026 was the first year the Keast family ran the event. After a successful debut, we’re confident they have plenty in store for year two.
