round 27
These weeks are flying by, summer is here, and national racing kicks off in just 9 days at Wild Rose MX Park!
But first, let’s talk about some racing action from this past weekend.
We made our way to Ontario for the GDR Media Day and decided to drop by AMO Round 3 at Sand Del Lee while we were in town. Lucky for us, some top riders showed up, giving us a chance to watch and compare performances, between what we saw at Gopher Dunes with the GDR team and what we saw at SDL with the MX101 team.
Of course, nothing quite matches the intensity of a national race, but weekends like this give you a solid read on fitness, comfort on the bike, and, most importantly at this point in the season, attitude.
We’re not here to say “this guy” or “that guy” was flying, but what we will say is that the racing looks a lot tighter than most expected in both classes. Barring injuries, it doesn’t look like anyone’s running away with it this season.
Our full Pre-Season Review drops soon, stay tuned.
Here is out race report from Sand De Lee:
One of the biggest stories in Canadian moto right now is the new track under construction in B.C. The team recently announced a name change and is now seeking donations to help get the park open by summer. new name is Wild Mountain MX.
Something exciting is brewing, Yamaha Canada has announced they’ll be taking multiple riders to Ironman during MXoN to compete in the Yamaha-only race.
On the east coast, blue bikes are everywhere, especially in the mini classes. Out west, though, it’s a different story. Word in the pits is that some local 65cc and 85cc riders are thinking about heading to their local dealer to make the switch to Yamaha for a shot at earning that coveted trip to Ironman at WCAN in July.
Tyler Gibbs had an eventful weekend, getting the invite to ride at the DeMelo’s with Carson Brown and crew, a hard opportunity to pass up.
In 2025, racing is still top-tier, but the social media game has added a whole new layer to the sport, especially for the younger generation. Riders aren’t just judged by lap times anymore, they’re building brands, characters, and fanbases.
One of the best examples is Aaron Plessinger. He’s crafted a strong persona that’s made him a fan favorite, even when results haven’t always been there. In fact, Plessinger himself has admitted to struggling early in the season, yet his popularity hasn’t dipped, and that fan engagement often matters just as much, if not more, than podiums in 2025.
It's a reminder: racers are here to sell bikes. The old saying “win on Sunday, sell on Monday” is evolving. Now it’s also “be a great personality, and you’ll sell bikes too.”
A great example of this in Canada is Quinn Amyotte. He’s put serious time and effort into building his personal brand, and it’s paying off. Running his own program this year, Quinn is already a fan favorite.
For the Guaranteed Comfort Honda team, he’s a major asset, not just on the track, but in the pits, where fans come for autographs and photos. In today’s game, that kind of connection goes a long way.
It was a wild weekend in Western Canada, with four races happening within a four-hour radius. ACM hosted an event in Lethbridge, CAMS was at Wild Rose MX Park, SOR Sprint Enduro held a round in Nichie Valley, and just across the border in B.C., Future West took over Revvy. Across the four races, there were a staggering 1,160 entries, a clear sign that rider turnout and passion for racing in Western Canada is alive and thriving. That’s a massive number of racers hitting the gate in just one weekend!
I’m looking to start highlighting some must-watch content each week, and this week’s pick is the Gypsy Tales podcast featuring Pete Fox.
If you don’t know Pete, he and his family founded Fox Racing, pioneers and icons who’ve shaped the sport for decades. This episode is packed with insight, history, and behind-the-scenes stories you don’t want to miss.
For those who caught it, we sat down with Mark Stallybrass last week for an interview to catch up on what he’s been up to. It was an awesome conversation and something we’re proud to share.
The goal is simple: move the sport forward by honoring those who paved the way and recognizing the people still pushing it in a positive direction.
We also caught up with Kaylie Kayer to hear about her season plans and how her winter training went!
A couple other things to check out would some Canadian Rider Vlogs:
Zach Ulfimzeff Vlog
Note: they are all Guaranteed Comfort Racing riders… pretty interesting!
