Kaylie Kayer Joins MX101 Yamaha for 2026 WMX Season

April 14, 2026

As the summer race season draws closer, MX101 Yamaha is excited to officially announce that Kaylie Kayer will join the team for the 2026 WMX season, marking a major step forward for both rider and program.

Kayer first caught the attention of the MX101 crew during the 2023 preseason while training in Kamloops alongside Canadian motocross standout Shawn Maffenbeier. It didn’t take long for her work ethic and determination to stand out.

Maffenbeier noted early on that Kayer possessed the mindset and drive required to compete at the highest level of women’s motocross, believing she had the potential to become a future WMX Champion.

Throughout the 2025 season, MX101 kept a close eye on Kayer’s progression, offering guidance and support as she pieced together an impressive summer campaign. Her season included multiple podium finishes and was capped off in dominant fashion with a clean sweep at the final round, securing her first overall victory.

Known as a multi-discipline athlete, Kayer also showed her versatility off the motocross track. Last fall, she expressed interest in tackling Ontario’s largest off-road race. In preparation, the team race-prepped a Yamaha WR250F, giving fans an early glimpse of her adaptability and hinting at what the future could hold.

Team owner Kevin Tyler believes the addition of Kayer strengthens the program’s championship ambitions heading into 2026.

"We are excited to see Kaylie full-time on blue and see if we can help be the difference from runner-up to Champion this summer," said Tyler.

For Kayer, the move represents an opportunity to build on her momentum and chase the ultimate goal.

"I'm excited for the opportunity to join the BluCru and try to add to the red plate summer chase under the tent and a national championship," added Kayer.

With strong results behind her and the backing of MX101 Yamaha, all signs point to Kayer being a serious contender when the gate drops on the 2026 WMX season.
